This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-50S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-50S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-50S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X60-50S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 10-60 mm. This 12 mm bore unit is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ before swapping.
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kg) of real work at 0.5 MPa, so it lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the 60 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard for this bore, so it is made to order. The -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE switches can be mounted.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-50S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-50S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping of small aluminium or plastic parts in compact drill and assembly jigs, with the stroke trimmed from 10 to 60 mm to suit each fixture.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches report end-of-stroke on a short-stroke parts pusher in an electronics assembly line running at 30-500 mm/s.
About 3.4 kg of usable working force at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small caps or plugs on cosmetic and pharmaceutical bottles inside a guard where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
Size both ways: a 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if you need more force, while staying at 12 mm keeps the envelope smallest. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 50 mm window - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the ACEJ12X60 as the current drop-in and verify mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: the stop screw shortens the 60 mm extend stroke to any value from 10 to 60 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 60 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287 compact format, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends and an M3x0.5 female rod thread. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly on the body. The model is discontinued; the ACEJ12X60 is the current drop-in - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
