This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-50SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-50SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X60-50SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 60 mm stroke by up to 50 mm on site, giving a usable range of 10-60 mm. This 12 mm bore unit delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order length. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACPJ follows a DIN-standard footprint.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which makes it a strong fit for slim fixtures, guarding gates and compact pick stations. The -S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing; the rod carries a male thread (B code) and the ports are M5x0.8. As a rule of thumb, plan for about 34 N (roughly 3.4 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating window is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-50SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-50SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 10-60 mm trim range lets a jig builder dial the exact eject distance for connector or pin parts, with 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough for light plastic components.
Because the magnet is fitted, CMSE / DMSE switches confirm the rod has reached the trimmed stop - useful in electronics test rigs where every clamp cycle must be logged.
At 0.7 MPa the bore 12 cylinder pushes 79.2 N, enough to seat small nylon or brass bushings in tight housings where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
Size up or down by force: the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while this 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N - step down only if your load is under about 34 N of real work. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost; do not use it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and because the magnet is fitted (the -S code), CMSE / DMSE switches work out of the box. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X60 instead - this ACPJ12X60-50SB is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: the stop screw shortens the 60 mm stroke by up to 50 mm, so the usable extend range is 10-60 mm. The 60 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since bore 12 tops out at 50 mm standard.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into narrow fixtures and gantries. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly for end-of-stroke detection. It is discontinued, though - the drop-in successor is the ACEJ12X60, so verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
