This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X60-50 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X60-50 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X60-50 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 60mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X60-50 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X60-50 is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder: 12 mm bore, 60 mm stroke and a 50 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 10-60 mm range on site. Air at 0.5 MPa gives 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 60 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits tight jigs and guarding. Practical sizing: treat roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the push rating) as the usable working force, which lifts about 3 kg vertically - halve that to about 1.5 kg for a 2:1 margin. Fluid is air filtered to 40 um, pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. No magnet is fitted on this code; the optional -S version adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. Replacement: ACEJ12X60.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X60-50 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X60-50 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×60 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 34 N usable push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip small plastic or machined parts off a locating pin, and the 10-60 mm trim range lets one cylinder serve several fixture variants.
With the optional -S magnet and a CMSE or DMSE switch, end-of-stroke confirmation is available for automated leak or functional test rigs handling light sub-assemblies.
The 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa suits pressing small dowels or bushings into housings on electronics assembly lines, where the short body fits inside a compact press head.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push or the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N at the same pressure. If you need a fixed stroke instead of a trimmed one, the plain ACP covers that job. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot hardware to the ISO 21287 face, and order the -S code if CMSE / DMSE position sensing is planned. This model is discontinued - the current drop-in is ACEJ12X60; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code is a 50 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 60 mm extend stroke, giving a usable range of 10-60 mm. It is an end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a load-holding lock. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287-class short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a 6 mm hard-chrome S45C rod, M3x0.5 female rod thread, M5x0.8 ports and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The ACPJ12X60-50 is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X60 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
