AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X70-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X70-10 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the ordered 70 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 60-70 mm. Its 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa). The 70 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order item. Note that this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M3x0.5 thread. As a sizing rule of thumb, plan for roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. No magnet is fitted, so position switches cannot be used unless you order the optional -S magnet code.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 60-70 mm trimmed stroke and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit knocking light clips or pins off a fixture, while the short body fits inside tight machine framing.
The 12 mm bore gives gentle force for sliding vials or trays, and the female M3x0.5 rod thread accepts small custom tooling; the M5x0.8 port keeps tubing runs minimal.
With about 34 N of practical working force at 0.5 MPa (roughly 2.9 kg vertical lift), this cylinder handles low-force seating of small terminals in jig-built benches.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push, or downsize only if your load is under about 34 N. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot on the standard face. If you need sensors, order the -S version with the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X70 instead, and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping from this DIN-standard ACP body.

The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X70 (swap the P for an E) in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP body follows the older DIN-standard footprint.
