This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X70-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X70-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X70-30B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 70 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 40-70 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures a full-length body cannot reach. Note the 70 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is made to order.
Practical sizing: plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the push rating), which is roughly 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. The rod carries a male thread (the B code) and the ports are M5x0.8. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X70-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X70-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip small pressed terminals or pins out of a die, and the 40-70 mm adjustable range lets you tune the eject point without re-plumbing.
A 6 mm male-thread rod with a knuckle drives sample trays into a test station; the short body fits inside instrument housings where a profile cylinder will not.
Running at 30-500 mm/s, the cylinder folds light cardboard flaps at up to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with the stop screw set so the flap is pressed, not crushed.
For light clamping and positioning in cramped spaces, this 12 mm bore suits loads in the 30-55 N band at 0.5 MPa. If you need more muscle, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; if your load is under about 35 N, the same family in a smaller frame may suffice - confirm from datasheet. The 30 mm adjustment window only shortens the extend stroke; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches - this unit has no magnet fitted. Order the ACEJ12X70 as the current drop-in.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the fluid must be air filtered to 40 um. The 70 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 40 and 70 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. This ACPJ model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, and remember the magnet is the optional -S code - without it no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted.
