This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X70-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X70-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X70-30 uses a 12 mm bore and a 70 mm stroke that an external stop screw trims by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 40-70 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. Because the short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, it slots into slim fixtures, sliding doors and small pick stations where a full-length body cannot. The 70 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
The hard-anodized aluminium body carries aluminium covers with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and a female M3x0.5 rod thread; ports are M5x0.8. As a planning figure, expect roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, or a vertical lift of about 2.9 kg with a 2:1 margin. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X70, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X70-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X70-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects light plastic caps and stamped clips off a nest, with the 30 mm window letting technicians tune the extend stroke from 40 to 70 mm without changing the cylinder.
A 12 mm bore slides a lightweight guard or shutter at 30-500 mm/s; with the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm end positions in the tight body envelope.
About 2.9 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin presses PCBs or connector blocks into jigs, and the short body fits where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would be roughly twice as long.
Size both ways: bore 16 delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while the smaller bore 12 at 56.5 N suits light clamping and gating. The 30 mm window trims the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. No magnet is fitted on this code; order the -S variant if CMSE / DMSE switches are needed. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. This unit is discontinued, so specify ACEJ12X70 for new projects and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 30 mm adjustment window on the 70 mm stroke (usable 40-70 mm), M5x0.8 ports, a female M3x0.5 rod thread, fixed TPU bumpers, speed 30-500 mm/s, pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi). The 70 mm stroke is a non-standard, made-to-order length since bore 12 tops out at 50 mm standard.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 30 mm within the ordered window, so you can set any extend length from 40 to 70 mm on site; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 70 mm and it does not hold a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X70, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
