About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-40B
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X70-40B is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 70 mm stroke. Its hard-anodized aluminium body is roughly 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
The -40 code sets a 40 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere between 30 and 70 mm on site, so one cylinder covers several fixture positions. The 70 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is made to order. Because only about 0.6 of the rated push is usable in practice, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The rod carries a male thread (B code) and the ports are M5x0.8. Replacement: order ACEJ12X70, the current ISO 21287 drop-in, and confirm mounting dimensions before swapping.

The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. No magnet is fitted on this version; order the -S code if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face. This model is discontinued - ACEJ12X70 is the current-production equivalent in the same bore, stroke and force class.
