This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X70-50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X70-50S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-50S

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-50S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70-50S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-50S

Double acting and adjustable, this discontinued ACPJ12X70-50S carries a 12 mm bore and a 70 mm made-to-order stroke (above the 50 mm standard for this bore) with a 50 mm trim window, so a stop screw sets any extend stroke from 20 to 70 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped fixtures and guarding.

The -S code on this unit means the optional magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. Plan on about 34 N (roughly 3.5 kg) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, and expect about 2.9 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. The fixed TPU bumper at each end only decelerates the rod; it never holds a load if air is lost. This model is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X70, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP follows the older DIN layout.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X70-50S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-50S Is Used

sensors

Position-flagged ejector on a small assembly press

The fitted magnet lets a CMSE switch confirm full extension before a 30 g connector housing is pushed out of a nest, trimming the stroke anywhere from 20 to 70 mm to match the nest depth.

Stop-adjusted part clamp in a compact jig

About 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa holds a thin aluminium bracket against a locator, and the 50 mm window lets one cylinder serve several bracket widths without re-plumbing.

The short body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside a benchtop enclosure, while a DMSE switch signals the 70 mm made-to-order stroke end to the controller.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-50S with the ACEJ12X70-50S

At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for a 20 mm bore. Step up if your part mass or friction load exceeds about 34 N of real work. The 70 mm stroke is a made-to-order length for this bore, so lead time applies. The female M3x0.5 rod thread takes standard I/Y knuckles, and FA flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the same face. If you need position feedback, this S-coded unit already carries the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X70 instead - same bore, stroke and force class, currently in production.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X70-50S
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-50S FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw sets any extend stroke between 20 and 70 mm. Note the 70 mm stroke itself is a made-to-order length, since the standard maximum for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm. The stop is a mechanical end stop only - it does not lock the piston if air pressure is lost.

No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same 12 mm bore, 70 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP follows the older DIN-standard layout, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. This unit carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um at 30-500 mm/s, and has a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
