This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X70-75S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X70-75S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70-75S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This compact AirTAC cylinder is double acting, with air driving the rod out and pulling it back, and its -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw trims the 70 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 0-70 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice plan for roughly 34 N (about 0.6 of the push rating) of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
Note that the 70 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, the fixed TPU bumper decelerates at both ends, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X70, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping because the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X70-75S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X70-75S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 12 mm bore pushing 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa seats small connectors or labels in electronics fixtures, with the stop screw trimming the extend stroke to a repeatable 0-70 mm window.
The fitted -S magnet drives CMSE or DMSE switches for end-of-stroke confirmation on a compact camera gantry, where the short body fits inside a tight guard.
About 2.8 kg of vertical lift capability with a 2:1 margin clears sample vials from a tray in a compact analytical instrument, using the M3x0.5 female rod thread for tooling.
For a 70 mm stroke at this force level, 12 mm gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step up to bore 16 (100.5 N) if the load is heavier, or down only for very light positioning. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. Since ACPJ is discontinued, order ACEJ12X70 as the current-production equivalent and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um, temperature -20 to +70 C. The 70 mm stroke is non-standard for bore 12 (max standard 50 mm), so it is made to order.
The -75 code is a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke on site anywhere from 0 to 70 mm, and a fixed TPU bumper decelerates at both ends. The stop is not a load-holding brake. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X70 (same bore, stroke and force class), and you should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping since the ACP is DIN-standard.
