This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X70-75SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X70-75SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75SB

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70-75SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75SB

This double acting compact cylinder carries a 12 mm bore with a 70 mm made-to-order stroke and a 75 mm adjustment window, so an external stop screw can trim the extend stroke anywhere in a 0-70 mm range on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches make it ready for sensorised small fixtures.

The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim pick-and-place heads and guarded test rigs. Because about 60% of the 56.5 N push is realistic working force, plan on roughly 34 N of real work - about 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Note the 70 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is built to order. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X70, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series was DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X70-75SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75SB Is Used

science

Lab sample ejector

Ejects microscope slide carriers or vial trays from a fixture with 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa, while the fitted magnet and a CMSE switch confirm each ejection cycle.

precision_manufacturing

Micro-part ejection from press die

The 0-70 mm trimmed extend stroke clears small stamped connectors off a die face; the male rod thread bolts straight to a custom ejector pin.

sensors

PCB test fixture actuator

Lowers a probe block onto circuit boards with about 34 N of usable force, and the -S magnet plus DMSE switch signals top-of-stroke in the test log.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75SB with the ACEJ12X70-75SB

At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for a 20 mm bore. Choose it for light clamping or part present checks under about 34 N of working load; step up a bore if your jig needs more. The 75 mm window lets one cylinder serve several stroke settings on the same fixture, but remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, and on air loss the piston still drifts. Mounting uses FA/FB flanges or LB feet on the ISO 21287 face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the current ACEJ12X70 instead.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X70-75SB
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75SB FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code is a 75 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 70 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable 0-70 mm range. The stop only trims the stroke - it does not hold a load if air is lost. Speed is 30-500 mm/s over 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

The 70 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. The cylinder is a compact ISO 21287-class unit with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and an M5x0.8 port; the -S magnet fitted on this model accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X70, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
