This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X70-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X70-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X70-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 70mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X70-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 70 mm stroke on site within the ordered 75 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-70 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs where a full-length body will not fit. Note the 70 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. No magnet is fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be mounted; order the -S code for the optional magnet that accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued - the current drop-in is ACEJ12X70, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X70-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X70-75 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa ejects small plastic caps or connector housings off a nest, and the 0-70 mm adjustable range handles several part lengths on one fixture.
With the optional -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches flag end-of-stroke on a 70 mm verify stroke in electronics assembly cells.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside a conveyor side frame as a 70 mm part stopper on a packaging line.
Size up if 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push at the same pressure. If 56.5 N covers the job with margin, stay at 12 mm. The 75 mm window lets one cylinder serve several product lengths on the same fixture - set the stop once per changeover. Remember the stop screw is an end stop for the extend stroke only, not a mid-stroke lock: on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the female M3x0.5 rod thread suits I/Y knuckles. For new builds, specify ACEJ12X70 instead - this ACPJ is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code is a 75 mm adjustment window: the stop screw shortens the 70 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 0-70 mm. It runs double acting on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, at 30-500 mm/s. The 70 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
Only with the optional -S magnet code - this version has no magnet, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X70 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard compact footprint.
