This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X75-20B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X75-20B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X75-20B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 75mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X75-20B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X75-20B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 75 mm stroke by up to 20 mm, giving a usable range of 55-75 mm on site. This 12 mm bore size delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 75 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X75.
Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped slide assemblies and small test rigs. The male rod thread (B code) bolts directly to I/Y knuckles, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end. In practice, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically - halve that for a 2:1 margin on a pick-and-place arm. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ12X75.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X75-20B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X75-20B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×75 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 55-75 mm adjustable range and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit a benchtop leak-test press that clamps small sensor housings inside a tight guard.
With about 1.7 kg of vertical lift capability at 0.5 MPa, this cylinder ejects finished watch or connector components from a dial-plate nest as the table indexes.
The male rod thread drives a light gate arm that diverts 30 ml vials between two conveyor lanes, with the stop screw tuned to the lane width.
Size this bore by force: at 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N, while a 16 mm bore reaches 100.5 N and a 20 mm bore 157.1 N. If your mechanism needs more than about 34 N of usable thrust, step up a bore size rather than raising pressure. The -20 window means the stop screw can only shorten the stroke within 55-75 mm - it cannot extend past 75 mm, and it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. This version has a male rod thread and PT ports; no magnet is fitted, so order the -S code if you later need CMSE / DMSE switch positions. For new designs, specify the ACEJ12X75 instead - same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -20 code gives a 20 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 75 mm stroke down to 55 mm. It runs double acting on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s, with M5x0.8 ports and a 6 mm male-thread rod. This 75 mm stroke is made to order, since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
Order the ACEJ12X75, the current ISO 21287 replacement: swap the P for an E and you get the same 12 mm bore, 75 mm stroke and force class in a short compact body. Because the ACPJ follows the older DIN-standard footprint, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. Also note this unit has no magnet fitted - the -S option is what enables CMSE / DMSE position switches.
