The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X75-40SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 75mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X75-40SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This AirTAC ACPJ12X75-40SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 75 mm stroke by up to 40 mm, giving a usable range of 35-75 mm. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 75 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order stroke. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X75, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. The -S magnet is fitted on this model, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke detection. A practical sizing rule: at 0.5 MPa about 34 N (roughly 3.4 kgf) is realistic working force, which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle brackets, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 35-75 mm adjustable range lets a jig builder trim the push-off stroke to clear a machined part from a nest, with 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa enough for light aluminium or plastic components.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the trimmed extend position on an electronics test bench, while the male rod thread picks up a small knuckle for a swing clamp.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits inside a benchtop analyser housing, and about 3.4 kgf of usable force presses a micro-dosing plunger at 30-500 mm/s.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N; if the load is under about 30 N, bore 12 at this size is already generous. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting to the fixture, and order the -S code (fitted here) whenever CMSE / DMSE position sensing is needed. For new designs, specify the ACEJ12X75 instead, as this ACPJ is discontinued.

The -40 code is a 40 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within it, so the 75 mm stroke can be set from 35 to 75 mm on site. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 75 mm, and the stop is not a load-holding brake - the piston still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X75 (swap the P for an E) in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
