This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X75-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X75-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X75-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 75mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X75-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X75-50B is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder in the discontinued ACPJ family. Air drives the rod in both directions, and the -50 stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 50 mm window, so the same cylinder covers a usable 25-75 mm range on the machine. At 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 79.2 N push. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N of real work (about 0.6 of the push rating), which lifts around 1.7 kg vertically with margin.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. Note that the 75 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order. The ACPJ line is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X75 (same bore, stroke and force class) - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X75-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X75-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×75 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 25-75 mm adjustable range lets one cylinder serve several fixture variants, pushing light plastic or stamped parts weighing under 1.5 kg off a nest.
The short body fits behind machine guarding where space is scarce; with the optional -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm end positions.
Light clamping or sample positioning at 34 N usable force, with the stop screw set per test recipe and speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
Size the load against 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; if your work needs more, step up to bore 16 (100.5 N push) or bore 20 (157.1 N push) in the same compact family. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. This B-code version has a male 6 mm rod thread and PT ports; no magnet is fitted, so order the -S code if you later want CMSE / DMSE switches. For new builds, specify the ACEJ12X75 instead.
Replacement checklist
Bore 12 mm, stroke 75 mm (non-standard for this bore, made to order), rod 6 mm with male thread, M5x0.8 ports. Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C. The -50 code gives a 50 mm stroke adjustment window.
An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke by up to 50 mm, giving a usable 25-75 mm range; it cannot lengthen the stroke past 75 mm and it does not hold a load if air is lost. A fixed TPU bumper pads both ends. The ACPJ is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X75, an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
