This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X75-50SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X75-50SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X75-50SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 75mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X75-50SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X75-50SB is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 75 mm made-to-order stroke. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 25-75 mm range on site. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod keeps the short ISO 21287-class package, which saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
Because the 75 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for a 12 mm bore, it is built to order. The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches report position, and the B code supplies a male rod thread. For planning real work, budget about 34 N (0.6 of the push force) at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting roughly 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X75, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X75-50SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X75-50SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×75 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa (about 34 N usable) is enough to kick light plastic or stamped parts off a nest, and the 25-75 mm adjustable range handles different part heights without re-plumbing.
With the fitted -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the rod has reached the trimmed stop, giving a go/no-go signal on electronics or medical subassembly test rigs.
The 11.5 kgf theoretical peak at 1.0 MPa seats small terminals and press-fit pins where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder would never fit inside the fixture envelope.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N; if the load is light, the same 12 mm bore in a fixed-stroke ACP or the ACEJ12X75 replacement may suit better. The 50 mm window suits stations where product sizes vary and one cylinder must cover several stop positions. Note the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston drifts, so it is not a load-holding lock. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread (B) pairs with I/Y knuckles. Order the ACEJ12X75 as the current drop-in and verify ISO 21287 dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8. The 75 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -50 code sets a 50 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 75 mm extend stroke to any length from 25 to 75 mm, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. The stop is a mechanical end position only, not a mid-stroke lock. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X75 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
