This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X80-100B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, built on a short DIN-standard body in hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 80 mm stroke is above the 50 mm standard limit for the 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80.
A stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within the 100 mm window, so on this 80 mm unit the usable range is 0-80 mm; the stop is a mechanical end stop only, and the piston still drifts if air is lost. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the male rod thread (B code) plus fixed TPU bumpers at both ends suit light clamping in tight fixtures. No magnet is fitted; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trimming the extend stroke to 0-80 mm lets one cylinder seat small connectors and PCB spacers with about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, no shimming needed.
The 80 mm made-to-order stroke and M5x0.8 ports suit compact analytical and test-bench slides where a full-length profile cylinder will not fit.
A male-thread 6 mm rod with a knuckle holds light carton flaps during taping, lifting about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
At the bottom of the range, the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N or the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N if your clamp needs more force. If you need position feedback, order the -S variant, since this model has no magnet and accepts no sensor without it. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings carry over to the ACEJ12X80 replacement, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP family is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window, and since the ordered stroke is 80 mm the stop screw can trim the extend stroke anywhere from 0 to 80 mm. The 80 mm stroke is a non-standard, made-to-order length for the 12 mm bore, whose standard limit is 50 mm.
Only if the optional -S magnet was ordered; this version has no magnet, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X80 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, and note the fixed TPU bumpers only decelerate at the ends; they never hold a load.
