This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-100S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-100S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-100S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-100S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X80-100S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder: a 12 mm bore pushing 56.5 N (pull 42.4 N) at 0.5 MPa, with an external stop screw that trims the extend stroke anywhere in the ordered 100 mm window, so the usable range is 0-80 mm. The 80 mm stroke is longer than the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarded assemblies. Because the -S code was ordered, the magnet is fitted and CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly. For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the push rating), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X80, same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-100S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-100S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa (about 34 N usable) is enough to kick small plastic or aluminium parts out of a drilling or assembly jig, with the stop screw set to a short, repeatable extend stroke.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract on a small gating or indexing slide running 30-500 mm/s, inside a machine guard where length is critical.
Clamping PCB trays or connector housings needs only a few newtons - the 2.9 kg vertical-lift equivalent covers light hold-down work, and the 100 mm window lets one cylinder serve several product sizes.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push / 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or 20 mm bore (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa). The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so never rely on it to hold a load mid-stroke. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X80 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 80 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable range of 0-80 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
Correct: the maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm, so this 80 mm unit is a non-standard, made-to-order build. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X80 in the ISO 21287 series, matching the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
