This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-100SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-100SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-100SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-100SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X80-100SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, built on a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its 80 mm stroke is above the 50 mm standard for this bore, so it is a made-to-order length. The -100 code sets a 100 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere from 0 up to the full 80 mm.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, guards and small gantries. Because the S code is ordered, the magnet is fitted and CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the body. The B code gives a male rod thread. Plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 3 kg vertically - halve that to around 1.7 kg for a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-100SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-100SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light crimp and insert tasks on PCB connectors, with the 100 mm window letting technicians trim the extend stroke to the exact die height during setup.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm extend and retract positions on a compact gripper slide, and the short body fits where a full-length cylinder cannot.
The 80 mm made-to-order stroke indexes vials or slides between test stations, lifting about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin, at speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. Step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N push or the 20 mm bore for 157.1 N at the same pressure if the load needs more headroom. The 100 mm adjust window suits stations where the final extend position is tuned during commissioning, but remember the stop screw only shortens the stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. This model is discontinued: order the ACEJ12X80 as the current drop-in and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with an adjustable extend stroke (100 mm window on an 80 mm stroke), runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 30-500 mm/s, M5x0.8 ports, male rod thread, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. The 80 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard for this bore.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued and no longer in production. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 12 mm bore, 80 mm stroke and force class with the same short ISO 21287 body and mounting family. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN-standard footprint. The -S magnet on this unit carries CMSE / DMSE switch compatibility; order the equivalent -S code on the ACEJ to keep position sensing.
