This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-100 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-100 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-100 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This compact AirTAC cylinder is double acting, with air extending and retracting the 6 mm rod, and its -100 code gives a 100 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere from 0 up to the full 80 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa. The 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarded stations. In practice, plan on about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note the model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X80, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-100 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-100 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps small aluminium or plastic workpieces in drilling and milling jigs, with the stop screw trimming the stroke to the fixture depth.
On electronics assembly lines the rod knocks light components off chutes or nests; the female M3x0.5 thread accepts a knuckle for angled pushes.
Inside tight machine guards, the short body feeds small trays or fixtures where a full-length profile cylinder would not fit, running 30-500 mm/s.
At 12 mm bore you get 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa; step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N or down only if the load is under about 34 N. The 80 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore (50 mm max standard), so order it as a made-to-order item. This version has no magnet, so no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted; choose the -S code if sensing is needed. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the same face. Since ACPJ is discontinued, spec ACEJ12X80 as the replacement and verify the ISO 21287 hole pattern.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, port M5x0.8, rod thread M3x0.5 female. The 80 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard for this bore.
The -100 window lets a stop screw shorten the extend stroke anywhere between 0 and 80 mm on site; it is a mechanical end stop only, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. The ACPJ family is discontinued; ACEJ12X80 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in successor in the same force class - confirm its mounting dimensions before converting.
