AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder in the discontinued ACPJ series: 12 mm bore, 80 mm stroke, 6 mm rod, M5x0.8 ports and a female M3x0.5 rod thread. The -10 code adds a 10 mm adjustment window, so a stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere between 70 and 80 mm. It is a short-body DIN-standard unit whose mounting length runs about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. Note the 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
At 0.5 MPa the piston pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The S code means the optional magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signals. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X80, and you should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light moulded clips or caps off a nest, and the 70-80 mm adjustable range lets the operator dial the eject point without re-plumbing.
With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE or DMSE switch confirms the trimmed extend position on a fixture that slides a connector housing under a press head.
The short body, about 50% the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, advances microplate trays 70-80 mm inside a compact analyser enclosure at 30-500 mm/s.
Size against neighbours: the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while staying at bore 12 keeps the M5x0.8 porting and the smallest envelope. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate valve or clamp if you need position holding. The 80 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore and made to order. For new builds, order the ACEJ12X80 instead: same bore, stroke and force class, currently in production.

Order the ACEJ12X80, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 12 mm bore, 80 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap, since the ACP is DIN-standard, and check FA/FB flange or LB foot interfaces plus the optional -S magnet code if you run CMSE / DMSE switches.
