This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This compact cylinder is double acting, so air drives the rod out and pulls it back, and the -10 code adds a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 80 mm extend stroke down to 70 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X80, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length cylinder cannot. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and the fitted -S magnet lets you mount CMSE or DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.5 kg of thrust) of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip small stamped terminals or connector pins out of a die, and the 70-80 mm trimmed stroke keeps the ejector travel matched to the tool.
With the fitted -S magnet and CMSE switches at both ends, the slide position is confirmed electrically, while the 10 mm stop window dials in contact pressure on delicate boards.
The 12 mm bore lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin, ideal for raising lightweight vial racks inside compact analyzer housings where mounting length is scarce.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is more than your jig needs, the smaller ACPJ10 class exists below this bore; if you need roughly 100.5 N push, step up to the 16 mm bore. The mechanical stop only shortens the extend stroke and does not lock the piston, so on air loss the rod can drift - use a separate valve or lock for load holding. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the male rod thread (B code) suits external knuckles. Since this model is discontinued, order ACEJ12X80 as the drop-in successor and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is a 12 mm bore double-acting adjustable-stroke cylinder with an 80 mm made-to-order stroke, 6 mm male-thread rod, M5x0.8 ports, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure, 30-500 mm/s speed and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends.
The -10 code gives a 10 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke from 80 mm down to 70 mm, so you set the exact end position on the machine. The stop is a mechanical end stop only, not a mid-stroke lock. The ACPJ family is discontinued; order ACEJ12X80 as the current drop-in and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
