This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X80-10 is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and an 80 mm stroke. Air drives the rod in both directions, and the -10 code adds a 10 mm stop-screw window that trims the extend stroke anywhere between 70 and 80 mm on site. Push force is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and guard-mounted tooling. Because 0.6 of the push rating is a sensible working figure, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa - roughly 3 kg lifted vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that this unit carries no magnet (the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches), and the ACPJ family is discontinued: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X80, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clears stamped connectors or watch-movement blanks off a die face, and the 70-80 mm trim lets the setter dial the ejector travel without shimming.
The short body fits where a full-length profile cylinder cannot, and with the optional -S magnet a CMSE or DMSE switch flags rod position on 12 mm-bore transfer heads.
About 3 kg of usable vertical load at 0.5 MPa suits light clamping of vials or microplates, with the 10 mm window absorbing vial-height variation between batches.
Size both ways: the bore 16 ACPJ16X30-20 delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while a bore 12 fixed-stroke ACP12X80 or the ACEJ12X80 replacement covers this exact force class. Remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift on air loss. FA/FB flanges and LB feet bolt to the standard face, and ordering the -S variant enables CMSE / DMSE switch mounting. Since ACPJ is discontinued, specify the ACEJ12X80 and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air, proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, with an M5x0.8 port, a 6 mm rod with M3x0.5 female thread and a 10 mm adjustable window on the 80 mm stroke.
A stop screw limits the extend stroke within the ordered 10 mm window, so the effective range is 70-80 mm; it shortens the stroke only and does not hold a load if air is lost. The ACPJ line is discontinued - the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows the DIN-standard footprint.
