This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-20SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-20SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-20SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-20SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X80-20SB carries a 12 mm bore and an 80 mm stroke trimmed by a 20 mm stop-screw window, so the working range runs from 60 to 80 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches are built into this order code.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim fixtures, guarding and pick stations a full-length body cannot reach. Applying the 0.6 rule of thumb to the 56.5 N push gives about 34 N of practical working force, roughly 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Note that the 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued: the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X80, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series follows a DIN-standard footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-20SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-20SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE or DMSE switches, so a PCB push-off stroke of 60-80 mm can be confirmed electrically at each cycle without external brackets.
About 34 N of practical push at 0.5 MPa suits seating pins or bushings in miniature housings, with the 20 mm window letting technicians dial the stroke down on the bench.
The short body fits where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would overhang the jig, holding light workpieces with the male-threaded rod driving a custom clamp lever.
Size the bore against the load: at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push, while the 16 mm bore reaches 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N in the same family. If your part mass sits near the 3 kg vertical-lift mark with a 2:1 margin, this bore is the right call; step up if you need more. The -20 window trims the extend stroke only, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can drift if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. This unit is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X80 as the current-production replacement and verify the mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends and an M5x0.8 port. The 80 mm stroke is made to order because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The -20 code sets a 20 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 80 mm extend stroke on site to any length from 60 to 80 mm. It is an end stop for the extend direction only and does not hold a load if air pressure drops. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X80, which matches the bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
