This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-30B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-30B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-30B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-30B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X80-30B is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: an external stop screw trims the 80 mm extend stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 50-80 mm on site. Air drives the rod in both directions, and a fixed TPU bumper decelerates the piston at each end. At 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 79.2 N on extend. Plan on roughly 34 N (about 3 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin) of real work rather than the full rating.
The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it fits tight jigs and guards. The 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order. The B code gives a male rod thread; the magnet is the optional -S code, so this model has no magnet and no sensor can be mounted. Replacement: ACEJ12X80.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-30B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-30B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims the extend stroke between 50 and 80 mm to eject finished 12 mm-bore-class parts from a compact drilling fixture without overtravel.
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suits light pressing of vials or sensor caps in benchtop test rigs where space is limited.
Male rod thread (B code) bolts to a knuckle for tucking small carton flaps on a semi-automatic packaging bench.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to bore 16 (100.5 N) or bore 20 (157.1 N); if the load is lighter, no smaller ACPJ bore exists, so check whether a shorter stroke at the same bore works. The 30 mm window only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. Mounting is FA/FB flange or LB foot on the ISO 21287 face. For switch position feedback, order the -S magnet version instead. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X80 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
Push 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; push 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical maximum 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. Port is M5x0.8, rod is 6 mm with male thread, and the 80 mm stroke is a made-to-order size above the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12.
The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 80 mm extend stroke on site to any length from 50 to 80 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X80 (swap the P for an E) in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP is DIN-standard.
