This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 80 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 50-80 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order length. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X80.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures where a full-length body cannot. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome 6 mm rod with a male thread (B code), and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3 kg vertical lift) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Ejects small stamped connectors from a die on an electronics assembly line, where the 50-80 mm trimmed stroke clears the nest without overtravel.
Swings a lightweight inspection gate on a PCB conveyor; the fitted -S magnet drives CMSE switches for end-position confirmation at each cycle.
Presses microplate seals with about 3 kg of usable vertical force at 0.5 MPa, matching delicate diagnostic consumables without crushing.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to bore 16 for 100.5 N; if the load is lighter, bore 12 is already the smallest in this family. The 30 mm window suits stations where the final position is tuned during commissioning. Remember the stop screw is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate clamp if holding is critical. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread (B) accepts I/Y knuckles. Before ordering, confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions for the ACEJ12X80 replacement, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa it gives 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um, port M5x0.8, rod 6 mm male thread. The 80 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -30 code sets a 30 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere within it, so the effective range is 50-80 mm. It cannot lengthen the stroke past 80 mm, and it is not a load-holding device. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X80 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
