This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X80-30 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 80 mm stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable range of 50-80 mm. This 12 mm bore unit is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X80 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Its 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guards.
At 0.5 MPa the bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push. Halving the 5.8 kgf vertical equivalent for a 2:1 margin, plan to lift about 2.9 kg vertically. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and runs 30-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). Note that no magnet is fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be mounted unless you order the optional -S magnet code.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Pressing dowel pins or bushings into plastic housings on an electronics assembly bench, where the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough and the 50-80 mm trim range dials in the seating depth.
Swinging or sliding a small interlock gate on a packaging machine, with the short body fitting inside a guard where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder would not.
Lowering a fixture clamp or light part weighing up to about 2.9 kg vertically in a test rig, using the stop screw to set a repeatable down position between 50 and 80 mm.
Size by force: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while bore 16 reaches 100.5 N and bore 20 reaches 157.1 N under the same pressure - step up if your load needs more than about 34 N of real work. The 30 mm window only shortens the extend stroke; it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and CMSE / DMSE switches work only when the optional -S magnet is ordered. Since this model is discontinued, confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and order the ACEJ12X80 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code is a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 80 mm extend stroke, so the usable range is 50-80 mm. It runs on air at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s, with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure and a fixed TPU bumper at each end.
Only if you order the optional -S magnet version; this model code has no magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches cannot be mounted as-is. The ACPJ family is discontinued, and the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80 - swap the P for an E for the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard.
