This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-50B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-50B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-50B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-50B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X80-50B uses a 12 mm bore and an 80 mm stroke that a stop screw trims by up to 50 mm, giving a usable range of 30-80 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the male (B code) rod thread carries an M3x0.5 external thread on the 6 mm rod. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, fluid filtered to 40 um.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-50B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-50B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims the extend stroke between 30 and 80 mm to eject finished nylon fittings off a locating pin on an assembly fixture, with the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clearing light plastic parts.
The 50 mm adjustment window lets a technician dial the stop screw per product changeover on a small electronics crimping bench, running 0.7 MPa for 79.2 N on stiffer terminals.
The short body, about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits under a camera gantry to clamp PCB carriers, with the male M3x0.5 rod thread taking a knuckle bracket.
At 12 mm bore this is the lightest force step: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for the 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for the 20 mm bore, so step up if your part weight exceeds about 1.7 kg of vertical lift. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not use it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face; the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches, but this model has no magnet fitted. Since the ACPJ is discontinued, order the ACEJ12X80 and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
Push 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; push 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa; theoretical maximum 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. The 80 mm stroke is made to order because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
The -50 code is a 50 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the 80 mm extend stroke by up to 50 mm, so you can run anywhere from 30 to 80 mm. It is an end stop, not a mid-stroke lock. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X80 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
