This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-75B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-75B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-75B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-75B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X80-75B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, now discontinued. Air drives the piston both ways, and the -75 stop screw trims the 80 mm stroke anywhere down to 5 mm on site, so one cylinder covers a whole family of short-stroke clamping positions. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push. In practice plan on roughly 34 N of usable work, which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, small guards and compact pick stations. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a male thread (the B code), fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the port is M5x0.8. Note the 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. For new projects order the current ACEJ12X80, the drop-in successor in the same force class, and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-75B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X80-75B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats small pins and terminals in electronics assemblies, and the 75 mm window lets one cylinder serve several press depths from 5 mm to 80 mm.
The short body, about 50% shorter in mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits between guard rails where a full-length cylinder cannot, pushing 42.4 N on retract to clear parts.
The male-threaded 6 mm rod drives a light slide through about 2.9 kg of vertical lift equivalent, with the stop screw set precisely for each burr holder position.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore suits light clamps, ejectors and small part presenters. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa); for lighter duty there is nothing smaller in the family. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - it shortens the extend stroke but does not hold a load if air is lost. This unit has a male rod thread and no magnet, so no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted; order an -S variant if sensing is needed. It is discontinued: specify ACEJ12X80 and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, fluid air filtered to 40 um. The port is M5x0.8, the rod is 6 mm with a male thread, and the 80 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -75 code is a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere from 80 mm down to 5 mm. It is a mechanical end stop, not a load-holding lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. Fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. The model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X80 (swap the P for an E), a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
