This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X80-75 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X80-75 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-75

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-75 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 80mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80-75 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-75

Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X80-75 is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and an 80 mm stroke trimmed by a 75 mm stop-screw window, so the extend stroke can be set anywhere from 5 to 80 mm on site. Pushing 56.5 N and pulling 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa (rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa), it runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The 80 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.

The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarded stations. As a planning figure, treat roughly 34 N (about 60% of the push rating) as the usable output at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X80, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X80-75 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Where the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-75 Is Used

science

Lab sample ejector

Ejects sample trays from a compact analyzer drawer where the 5-80 mm trim range matches variable tray depths and 56.5 N is ample for a light plastic carrier.

packaging

Small-box indexing stop

Acts as an extend-stroke stop for cartons on a packaging bench, with the stop screw set per SKU so one cylinder handles several box heights.

settings

Fixture clamp for light parts

Clamps connector housings in an electronics assembly jig, using about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa to hold parts during a screwdriving step.

Replacing the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-75 with the ACEJ12X80-75

At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa versus 100.5 N for a 16 mm bore and 157.1 N for a 20 mm bore, so step up if your load needs more than about 34 N of real work. The 75 mm window makes sense when one cylinder must serve several product lengths on the same fixture; the stop shortens the extend stroke only and never holds a load on air loss. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. No magnet is fitted on this code, so position switches cannot be used; order the -S version for CMSE / DMSE sensing. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X80 instead.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ACEJ12X80-75
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X80-75 FAQ

At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on about 34 N of usable push (roughly 60% of the rating), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um.

The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 80 mm extend stroke down to as little as 5 mm, set by hand on the machine. The stop is a mechanical end stop only, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X80 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
