This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This double acting compact cylinder carries a 12 mm bore with a 90 mm made-to-order stroke and a 100 mm adjustment window, so an external stop screw trims the extend stroke on site anywhere in the 0-90 mm range. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to I/Y knuckles on the ISO 21287 face. Note the 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is built to order.
The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which suits tight jigs and guarded stations. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod. Because no -S code was ordered, there is no magnet and no CMSE / DMSE switch can be fitted. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ12X90 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a sizing rule, about 34 N (roughly 3 kg of vertical lift with margin) is a realistic working force at 0.5 MPa.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Ejects small formed components from a compact die or fixture where the 90 mm stroke is trimmed down on site and 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is enough to clear the nest.
Advances a light electrical test probe into a PCB fixture; the male rod thread takes an I/Y knuckle and the stop screw sets exact probe depth within 0-90 mm.
Press-snaps caps onto cosmetic or medical vials in a guarded cell, using about 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa and the short ISO 21287 body to fit the tight envelope.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this bore 12 unit suits light clamping and part-presenting; step up to bore 16 (100.5 N) or bore 20 (157.1 N) if the load grows. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts on air loss. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. If you need position sensing, order the -S magnet version; this unit has none. For new builds specify ACEJ12X90, the current-production replacement.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 12 mm bore, 90 mm made-to-order stroke (standard max for bore 12 is 50 mm), a 100 mm adjustment window, M5x0.8 ports, 6 mm male-thread rod, PT port thread, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure, 30-500 mm/s speed and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends.
The -100 code sets a 100 mm window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke on site anywhere from 0 to 90 mm, though it never lengthens the stroke past the ordered value and it does not hold a load on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued; ACEJ12X90 is the current ISO 21287 drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm mounting dimensions before swapping, and order the -S magnet code there if you need CMSE / DMSE switches.
