This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-100 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-100 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-100 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-100 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X90-100 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: an external stop screw trims the 90 mm stroke anywhere within the ordered 100 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-90 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures where a full-length body will not fit. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M3x0.5 rod thread and M5x0.8 ports. In practice, plan on about 34 N (roughly 3.5 kg) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, or lift about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note: this model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X90, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-100 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Clamps small machined parts in a compact drilling fixture, with the stop screw trimmed to a shorter extend stroke so the 56.5 N push seats the part without over-compressing the jig.
Pushes small plastic caps or stamped clips off a conveyor at 30-500 mm/s, where the 90 mm made-to-order stroke clears a narrow chute and the short body fits under the guard rail.
Advances sample trays in a compact analytical instrument, using the adjustable window to set an exact short stroke and the M5x0.8 ports to suit tight manifold plumbing.
Size this bore by load: if your jig needs more than about 56 N of push at 0.5 MPa, step up to bore 16 (100.5 N) or bore 20 (157.1 N); for lighter pick-and-place under 40 N, bore 12 keeps the envelope smallest. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost and it never holds a load on its own. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet (not fitted on this code) is what enables CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X90 as the current replacement for this discontinued model.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, fluid air filtered to 40 um. The rod is 6 mm with a female M3x0.5 thread, the port is M5x0.8, and the 90 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12.
An external stop screw limits the extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 100 mm window, so you can run anywhere from 0 to the full 90 mm; it cannot lengthen the stroke past the ordered value. The TPU bumpers only decelerate at the ends and the stop is not a load-holding brake. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X90, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
