This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X90-10S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 90 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 80-90 mm. This 12 mm bore unit is discontinued, and the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X90 in the ISO 21287 family - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP series was built to a DIN standard. The 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this is a made-to-order length.
At 0.5 MPa the bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of usable work (about 0.6 of the push rating), which corresponds to lifting roughly 3 kg vertically - enough for small clamps, gates and light part transfer. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the fitted -S magnet lets CMSE / DMSE switches report end positions. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and speed spans 30-500 mm/s.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

The ACEJ12X90-10S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims a 12 mm bore clamp to an exact 80-90 mm extend stroke on a machining fixture, with the -S magnet confirming the clamped position via a CMSE switch.
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to deflect light harnesses or press small connectors in electronics assembly, with the 80-90 mm range tuned on site.
Lifts about 3 kg vertically with margin, ideal for raising small sample trays or lids in compact analytical equipment where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
Size this bore when your load needs under about 34 N of real force at 0.5 MPa; step up to bore 16 (100.5 N push) or bore 20 (157.1 N push) if the load grows. The 10 mm adjuster shortens the extend stroke only - it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the -S magnet supports CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X90 instead, matching bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa: 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull. At 0.7 MPa: 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. Theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 90 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to anywhere in an 80-90 mm range with the stop screw. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is M5x0.8. Note the 90 mm stroke is a made-to-order length, since bore 12 normally tops out at 50 mm standard.
This cylinder is no longer in production. The current drop-in is the ACEJ12X90 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 family - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, because the ACP was built to a DIN standard. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE and DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-position detection; models ordered without the -S code have no magnet.
