The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ12X90-10SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 90 mm stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 80-90 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
The 90 mm stroke is above the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is a made-to-order build rather than a catalogue item. The -S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the body; the -B code gives a male rod thread on the 6 mm rod. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and only decelerates the piston at the ends of travel - it never locks or holds a load, so on air loss the piston can still drift. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ12X90, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light moulded clips or caps off a nest, and the 80-90 mm trim range lets the operator dial the eject position without re-plumbing.
With the fitted -S magnet and a CMSE switch, an electronics test rig can confirm the 6 mm rod has reached the trimmed end position before the probe cycle starts.
About 2.9 kg of vertical working load (with a 2:1 margin) suits stamping date codes on cartons, and the short ISO 21287 body fits the cramped head space above the conveyor.
Size the job against the force table: if 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N; if the load is lighter, the same 12 mm bore in a fixed-stroke ACP may be enough. As a rule of thumb, plan for roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rated push), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) suits I/Y knuckles, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. If you need position feedback, this -S version already carries the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X90 instead - this ACPJ is discontinued.

An external stop screw shortens the extend stroke within the ordered 10 mm window - it sets where the rod stops on the out-stroke; it cannot lengthen travel past 90 mm and it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. The ACPJ12X90-10SB is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.
