This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-20S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-20S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-20S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-20S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X90-20S carries a 12 mm bore and a 90 mm stroke trimmed by a 20 mm stop-screw window, so the usable range is 70-90 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X90.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guard-mounted tooling. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rating), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code fits the magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries M5x0.8 ports, and the rod ends in a female M3x0.5 thread. Operating window: 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), 30-500 mm/s, -20 to +70 C.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-20S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-20S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -20 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The fitted magnet and a CMSE switch confirm the 70-90 mm extend range on a small electronics-assembly fixture, with 56.5 N enough to seat lightweight connectors.
A 20 mm trim window lets one cylinder serve two shallow press depths on a PCB depaneling station, delivering 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa for soft crimp work.
The short body fits inside a machine-guard pocket where a full-length profile cylinder cannot, nudging small plastic trays off a conveyor lane.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the family: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your part or clamp needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). If 56.5 N covers the job with margin, stay here. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke within the 20 mm window and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not rely on it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Before ordering, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ12X90 replacement against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The ordered stroke is 90 mm with a 20 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere in a 70-90 mm range. The 90 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi).
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X90 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP was built to a DIN standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. The ACEJ keeps FA/FB flange and LB foot options, and order the -S code there if you also need the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
