This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-30S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-30S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-30S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-30S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable in stroke, the ACPJ12X90-30S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 90 mm stroke that a stop screw can trim by up to 30 mm, giving a usable extend range of 60-90 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N. Because only about 60% of the push force should be counted as real work, plan on roughly 34 N, which lifts about 3 kg vertically - halve that for a 2:1 margin and match parts under 1.5 kg.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. Note that the 90 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore (the catalogue maximum is 50 mm), so it is made to order. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be added for end-of-stroke sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-30S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-30S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The trimmed 60-90 mm extend range and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa suit ejecting small machined or moulded parts off a locating pin in a compact jig.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches signal end of stroke, letting an electronics test bench confirm the 12 mm bore head has reached its set position.
Around 34 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa is enough to seat small connectors, bearings or labels where a heavier 16 mm bore (100.5 N) would over-press.
Size both ways: if 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa is more than the job needs, the smaller bore in this family is already the minimum; if the load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore for 100.5 N at the same pressure. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not use it to hold a load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ACEJ12X90 as the current drop-in replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the 90 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere down to 60 mm. The 90 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore (catalogue maximum 50 mm) and is made to order. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body in hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and simply decelerates the piston - it never locks or brakes a load. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted. The model is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X90 replacement and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap.
