This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-30SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X90-30SB is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 90 mm made-to-order stroke. A stop screw trims the extend stroke by up to 30 mm on site, giving a usable 60-90 mm range, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
For sizing, plan on about 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (roughly 0.6 of the rated push), which lifts about 3 kg vertically - halve that for a 2:1 margin and match it against your part weight. The -S code on this unit means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches mount directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body, and the B code gives a male S45C hard-chrome rod thread. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X90, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-30SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick light molded clips or caps off a nest, and the 60-90 mm trim range lets the setter dial the eject position without shimming.
With the fitted -S magnet, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm full extend on a 90 mm press-check station for electronics assemblies running at 30-500 mm/s.
About 3 kg of vertical lift capacity suits holding small brackets or PCB trays in a gantry head where the short body must fit under a fixed guard.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If you need more, the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N at the same pressure. The 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is built to order. The 30 mm window means your fixed tooling position must fall anywhere from 60 to 90 mm of extend travel. Note the stop screw is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it is not a mid-stroke lock. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread suits I/Y knuckles. Order ACEJ12X90 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window, so the 90 mm extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere down to 60 mm with the stop screw. The 90 mm stroke is above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is made to order. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the TPU bumper is fixed at both ends.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X90, which swaps the P for an E and matches the same 12 mm bore, 90 mm stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard rather than ISO 21287, confirm the mounting dimensions against the ACE drawing before you swap. The M5x0.8 port, male rod thread and optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches carry over in the replacement family.
