This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-30 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-30 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-30 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-30 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X90-30 uses a 12 mm bore to deliver 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa). The -30 code gives a 30 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the 90 mm stroke down to as short as 60 mm on site, so one cylinder covers a 60-90 mm working range. Note the 90 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim jigs and guard-mounted actuators. For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rating), which lifts about 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the rod end is female M3x0.5 with an M5x0.8 air port. No magnet is fitted on this version; the optional -S code adds one for CMSE / DMSE switches.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-30 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-30 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 60-90 mm trimmed stroke and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa knock lightweight finished parts off a mold or nest without marking them.
With the optional -S magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches, end positions are confirmed on compact gantries where a full-length cylinder will not fit.
About 34 N of practical push at 0.5 MPa clamps PCB assemblies against a test jig, and the stop screw dials the exact clamp height in the field.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore fits light clamping and positioning; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) if the load is heavier, or down only for very light indexing. The stop screw shortens the extend stroke only - it never lengthens past 90 mm - and it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. For position feedback order the -S magnet version with CMSE / DMSE switches. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ12X90 replacement.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N; theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The bore is 12 mm with a 6 mm rod, M5x0.8 port, female M3x0.5 rod thread, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The 90 mm stroke is a made-to-order size above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -30 code means a stop screw can shorten the extend stroke by up to 30 mm, giving a usable 60-90 mm range; it cannot extend beyond 90 mm and it does not hold a load on air loss. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X90 (same bore, stroke and force class, ISO 21287 mounting), so confirm the ISO 21287 dimensions before swapping.
