About the Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-40SB
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -40 code gives a 40 mm stop-screw window, so the 90 mm stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 50 and 90 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. Its 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for bore 12, so it is a made-to-order build. Note: the ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ12X90.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits slim jigs and guarding frames. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the hard-anodized aluminium body. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the S45C hard-chrome rod carries a male thread. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kgf) of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
