This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-50S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-50S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-50S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-50S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting with an adjustable extend stroke, the ACPJ12X90-50S is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder in the 12 mm bore class. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -50 code gives a 50 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 90 mm extend stroke anywhere in a 40-90 mm range on site. Note that the 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 12, so this unit is made to order.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guarded assemblies. Because roughly 0.6 of the push force is a realistic working share, plan on about 34 N of usable thrust - enough to lift about 1.7 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S magnet is fitted on this model, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted directly. As ACPJ is discontinued, the current-production drop-in is ACEJ12X90; confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-50S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-50S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -50 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 40-90 mm trimmable stroke and 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa eject finished clips or pins from a fixture, with the stop screw set to the exact part depth.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches report extend and retract on a benchtop leak or marking station running 30-500 mm/s.
About 34 N of practical clamping force at 0.5 MPa holds small circuit-board carriers during a screwdriving or soldering cycle.
Size both ways before committing: bore 16 pushes 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa if 56.5 N is marginal, while staying at bore 12 keeps the M5x0.8 port and M3x0.5 female rod thread compact. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston, so on air loss the rod still drifts; add an external check or use a controlled valve for holding. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings plus I/Y rod knuckles bolt to the standard face. This model is discontinued - order ACEJ12X90 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 hole patterns.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N. At 0.7 MPa the figures are 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull. The theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed runs 30-500 mm/s. As a rule of thumb, count on about 34 N of usable thrust, roughly 1.7 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin.
The -50 code sets a 50 mm window: a stop screw shortens the 90 mm extend stroke down to 40 mm, so one cylinder covers a 40-90 mm range without changing hardware. Fixed TPU bumpers at both ends absorb end-of-travel impact. The ACPJ is discontinued; the current-production successor is ACEJ12X90 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP follows the DIN-standard footprint.
