This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-75B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-75B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-75B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-75B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting with an adjustable stroke, the ACPJ12X90-75B runs on a 12 mm bore and delivers 56.5 N of push force and 42.4 N of pull force at 0.5 MPa (79.2 N / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa). The -75 code sets a 75 mm adjustment window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere from 15 mm up to the full 90 mm, so one cylinder covers several fixture positions. The 90 mm stroke is beyond the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into slim jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. A hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and speeds of 30-500 mm/s. In practice, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rating), which lifts around 2.9 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note: no magnet is fitted on this version, so position switches cannot be mounted unless the optional -S code is ordered.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-75B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-75B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 15-90 mm trim range lets one cylinder serve multiple mold sizes; 56.5 N at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick lightweight sprues and finished caps off the ejector side.
Tune the extend stroke with the stop screw so the pin engages the same index depth every cycle; the male rod thread accepts a knuckle for the pivoting pin.
The short body fits inside benchtop analyzer enclosures, and the 2.9 kg vertical-lift margin covers moving sample trays of a few hundred grams with headroom.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and part-presenting duty; step down is not available in this family, while the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if you need nearly double the force. The male rod thread (B code) pairs with I/Y knuckles for linkages. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not lock the piston if air is lost, so add a separate holding valve for suspended loads. For new designs, order the ACEJ12X90 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACPJ follows a DIN-standard footprint.
Replacement checklist
Push is 56.5 N and pull is 42.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 79.2 N and pull to 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code gives a 75 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere between 15 mm and the full 90 mm. The 90 mm stroke is a made-to-order length because the standard maximum for a 12 mm bore is 50 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
Only if the optional -S magnet code was ordered - this version has no magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches cannot be fitted as-is. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ12X90 (same bore, stroke and force class, ISO 21287 body). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, because the ACPJ was built to a DIN-standard footprint. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts remain available on the replacement.
