This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-75S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-75S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-75S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-75S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ12X90-75S is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -75 stop screw trims the 90 mm stroke down to as little as 15 mm on site. The 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N push and 42.4 N pull at 0.5 MPa (79.2 / 59.4 N at 0.7 MPa), with a theoretical peak of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Note that the 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits cramped jigs and guarding. As a rule of thumb, plan for roughly 34 N (about 3.4 kg of vertical lift) of usable work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 56.5 N rating. The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches, and the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90 - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-75S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-75S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip light aluminium or plastic parts off a locating pin, and the 15-90 mm adjustable range lets you dial in the ejection travel.
With the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches confirm the rod is fully home in a benchtop leak or assembly check, at speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
The short body, roughly half the length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, fits low-profile clamping posts on electronics assembly jigs where space is tight.
At 12 mm bore this is the smallest force class in the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa) or the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). The 75 mm adjustment window covers jobs where the final position is tuned during commissioning; remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and is not a mid-stroke lock - on air loss the piston still drifts. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt straight to the face. This model is discontinued; order the ACEJ12X90 as the drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um. Port is M5x0.8, rod thread is female M3x0.5, and the 90 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 50 mm standard maximum for this bore.
The -75 code sets a 75 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the extend stroke anywhere between 15 and 90 mm. It is a mechanical end stop only - it never holds a load if air is lost. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90 in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting your fixture.
