This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ12X90-75SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ12X90-75SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ12X90-75SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ12X90-75SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting and adjustable, the ACPJ12X90-75SB is a discontinued DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 90 mm stroke that a stop screw can trim by up to 75 mm, giving a usable extend range of 15-90 mm. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 79.2 N and 59.4 N, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures a full-length body cannot reach.
The 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm maximum standard stroke for a 12 mm bore, so this unit is made to order. The -S code on this model means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signalling, and the B code gives a male 6 mm rod thread. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the piston, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries M5x0.8 ports, and the S45C rod is hard-chrome plated. Since this model is discontinued, order the current ACEJ12X90 drop-in instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a sizing rule, plan on roughly 34 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ12X90-75SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACEJ12X90-75SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -75 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
One stop-screw setting trims the 90 mm stroke down to 15 mm for short housings and back out for tall ones, with 56.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa enough to eject small plastic parts from a nest.
The fitted -S magnet drives a CMSE switch at the retracted end, so the PLC verifies the 6 mm male-thread rod is home before the test cycle starts on a circuit-board leak station.
At 0.7 MPa the 79.2 N push seats small brass bushings in aluminium housings, and the compact short body fits inside the jig guard where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would overhang.
Size both ways before committing: a 16 mm bore of the same family delivers 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while stepping down is not possible because 12 mm is the smallest bore in this series. If your jig needs more force than about 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, take the 16 mm bore. The 75 mm trim window suits stations where one cylinder must serve several product lengths; remember the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not hold a load if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and the fitted -S magnet works with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify the ACEJ12X90, the current-production replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it pushes 79.2 N and pulls 59.4 N; the theoretical maximum is 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -75 code sets a 75 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 90 mm extend stroke anywhere down to 15 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 90 mm stroke is a made-to-order length since the bore 12 standard maximum is 50 mm.
It is a short-body compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, an S45C hard-chrome rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end that only decelerates at the ends; it never locks or holds a load. The body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted. It is discontinued: order the ACEJ12X90 replacement and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
