AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X10-10B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X10-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X10-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ16X10-10B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke, now discontinued and superseded by the ACEJ16X10. Air drives the piston in both directions, and the -10 code gives a 10 mm window: a stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere from 0 to 10 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into shallow fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Because only about 60% of the push force should be counted on for real work, plan for roughly 60 N of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa - enough to lift about 6 kg vertically, or about 3 kg with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle accessories, the port is M5x0.8, and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends.

At 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, this 16 mm bore sits between the 12 mm bore (56.5 N) and the 20 mm bore (157.1 N). Choose the 12 mm bore for lighter clamping, or step up to 20 mm if the load approaches 100 N. The 10 mm stroke is well inside the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore. Note that the stop screw only shortens the extend stroke - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the piston still drifts if air is lost. If you need position sensing, the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this version has no magnet. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ACEJ against your fixture before swapping.
