AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X10-10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X10-10S is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X10-10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X10-10S is a double acting, adjustable-stroke compact cylinder with a 16 mm bore and a 10 mm stroke. A stop screw trims the extend stroke anywhere within the 10 mm window, so the usable range is 0-10 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push. In practice, plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kgf) of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting around 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the mounting length about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped directly on the body for end-of-stroke signalling. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends to soften arrival, and the female M4x0.7 rod thread accepts standard I/Y knuckles. Note that the adjuster is a mechanical end stop only: on air loss the piston still drifts, so it must not be treated as a load-holding brake. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ISO 21287 ACEJ16X10, and you should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP is DIN-standard.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to strip tiny molded clips or pins off a core, and the 0-10 mm trimmed stroke keeps the eject position repeatable after setup.
With the -S magnet fitted, a CMSE switch confirms the probe has bottomed out when verifying a connector or PCB is seated in its nest.
About 60 N of usable clamping force at 0.5 MPa holds 1-2 mm sheet flat during a drilling or riveting pass inside a compact fixture.
Size by force first: at 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push. If your load needs less, the 12 mm bore delivers 56.5 N; if you need more headroom, the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N in the same short body. The 10 mm adjustment window suits fixed-depth clamping where the final position is tuned on the machine. Match FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts to your fixture, and specify the -S code if you need switch feedback - this model already includes it. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X10 instead, as the ACPJ is discontinued.

The stop is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod can still drift if air is lost. This ACPJ is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X10 in the ISO 21287 family - confirm its mounting dimensions before swapping.
