This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X10-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X10-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X10-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X10-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ16X10-10SB is a discontinued double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 10 mm stroke anywhere inside the 10 mm window, giving a usable range of 0-10 mm. Air drives the rod in both directions, a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, and the male-threaded 8 mm rod (the B code) bolts straight into standard knuckles. Push force is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 short format, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. As a working figure, plan on about 60 N (roughly 6 kg of thrust) for real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X10 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP family is DIN-standard.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X10-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X10-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The trimmed 0-10 mm extend stroke nudges machined bushings or pins off a CNC jig without overshooting the part tray.
With the fitted -S magnet and a CMSE switch, a packaging line confirms the 100.5 N clamp has fully retracted before the filler head descends.
About 6 kg of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa seats nylon standoffs or small bearings into electronics housings where a full-size press is overkill.
At 16 mm bore this sits mid-range: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa if the load is lighter, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N when you need more thrust in the same short body. The stop screw is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so do not treat it as a mid-stroke lock. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the ACEJ16X10 as the current replacement for new builds.
Replacement checklist
Push is 100.5 N and pull 75.4 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 140.7 N and pull to 105.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 10 mm extend stroke on site, so the usable range is 0-10 mm. It shortens the stroke only - it never extends it past the ordered 10 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed 30-500 mm/s.
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X10 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same 16 mm bore, 10 mm stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 short-body format. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. The -S magnet on this unit carries CMSE / DMSE switches; FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings are available.
