This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X10-10 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X10-10 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X10-10 is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X10-10 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This ACPJ16X10-10 is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: the -10 code gives a 10 mm trim window, so a stop screw sets the usable extend range anywhere from 0 to 10 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 140.7 N and 105.6 N, with a theoretical 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits shallow jigs and guard-mounted fixtures. Note the model is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is ACEJ16X10.
Plan on roughly 60 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the 100.5 N push), which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a female M4x0.7 thread, M5x0.8 ports, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends. This unit has no magnet fitted, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted unless you order the optional -S magnet code. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X10-10 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X10-10 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 10 mm adjustable extend stroke seats small electronic connector pins in assembly jigs, with 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough for light press-fit work.
The short body clears tight fixture plates, and the 0-10 mm trim range nudges finished micro-parts off a nest without disturbing the next cycle.
About 60 N of usable clamp force holds microscope slides or vials during dispensing, and the M5x0.8 port suits compact manifold plumbing.
For a 10 mm trim stroke at this force level, bore 16 is the middle choice: bore 12 gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while bore 20 gives 157.1 N. If your part weighs near 5 kg and you want margin, step up to bore 20. The stop screw trims the extend stroke only - it is not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face. Order ACPJ16X10-10S if you need CMSE / DMSE switches; the plain code has no magnet. For new projects, specify the ACEJ16X10 instead and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code is a 10 mm adjustment window: a stop screw shortens the 10 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable 0-10 mm range. It shortens the stroke only and does not hold a load if air is lost.
It is a short-body compact cylinder whose mounting length is about 50% less than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with M5x0.8 ports, a female M4x0.7 rod thread, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends, and FA/FB flange or LB foot mounting. The ACPJ family is discontinued; the current drop-in is ACEJ16X10 - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
