This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-100B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-100B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-100B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-100B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This discontinued AirTAC ACPJ16X100-100B is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm extend stroke anywhere within the ordered 100 mm window, so one unit covers a 0-100 mm working range. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, rising to 140.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build. Note that the stop is a mechanical end stop only - on air loss the piston still drifts, so it never holds a load.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs and guard rails. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends, and the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an 8 mm S45C hard-chrome rod with a male thread (B code). In practice, plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kg) of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued - the current drop-in is the ACEJ16X100; confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-100B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X100-100B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -100 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 0-100 mm trimmed extend stroke pushes finished cartons off a conveyor lane; 100.5 N at 0.5 MPa is enough for light corrugated boxes, and the short body fits under the guard frame.
A stop screw set to 40 mm trims the stroke for nudging PCB carriers into a nest, with the male rod thread taking an I-type knuckle directly.
The 100 mm full stroke swings a light gate open; about 6 kg of usable push at 0.5 MPa handles the latch load, and the LB foot mounts on the carousel frame.
Size both ways: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is more than your load needs, the ACPJ12 saves space with 56.5 N; if you need more, step up to the ACPJ20 for 157.1 N at the same pressure. The B code gives a male 8 mm rod thread, and the port is M5x0.8. FA/FB flange or LB foot mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and CMSE / DMSE switches work only if you order the optional -S magnet - this unit has no magnet. Because the stroke is trimmed by a stop screw and not locked mid-travel, do not rely on it to hold a vertical load. Order the ACEJ16X100 as the current replacement and verify mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code gives a 100 mm adjustment window, so the extend stroke can be trimmed anywhere from 0 to 100 mm with the stop screw. The 100 mm stroke is a made-to-order build because the bore 16 standard limit is 75 mm. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) and speed is 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with FA/FB flange and LB foot options on the same face. Sensors are possible only with the optional -S magnet code, which enables CMSE / DMSE switches; this model (no S) has no magnet, so no switch can be mounted. The unit is discontinued - the ACEJ16X100 is the current drop-in, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.
