This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-100SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-100SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-100SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-100SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X100-100SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke anywhere within the ordered 100 mm window, so one cylinder covers a 0-100 mm working range. Air drives the rod out and back, a fixed TPU bumper decelerates at each end, and the -S code on this model carries the optional magnet so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. The 100 mm stroke is beyond the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for a 16 mm bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
At 0.5 MPa this bore pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa it reaches 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 60 N (about 6 kgf) of usable thrust at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body in the ISO 21287 short format saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and the male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle brackets. Note: this ACPJ series is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X100, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-100SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |

The ACEJ16X100-100SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.

| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Trims the push stroke to exactly clear a molded clip or connector from a cavity, with the 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa enough for light eject duty and the -S magnet confirming full retract.
The 0-100 mm adjustable range positions vial trays under a pipetting head, and CMSE / DMSE switches on the -S magnet signal each end of travel for sequence control.
The stop screw is set so the rod folds the flap without over-travel, using about 60 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, and the short ISO 21287 body fits inside the guard frame.
Size by load: at 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N push, the 12 mm bore only 56.5 N, and the 20 mm bore 157.1 N - if your jig needs more than about 60 N of real work, step up to 20 mm. The stop screw only shortens the extend stroke and does not lock the rod; on air loss the piston still drifts, so add a separate clamp for load holding. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the male rod thread takes I/Y knuckles directly. For new designs, order the ACEJ16X100 instead - this ACPJ model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa, 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull; theoretical maximum 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -100 code is a 100 mm adjustment window: an external stop screw shortens the 100 mm extend stroke on site, giving a usable 0-100 mm range. It shortens the stroke only - it never lengthens it past the ordered stroke, and it is a mechanical end stop, not a mid-stroke lock, so the rod still drifts if air is lost. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s, operating pressure 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi).
No - the ACPJ family is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100 (swap the P for an E), an ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class with the same FA/FB flange and LB foot mounting family. Because the ACPJ was built to a DIN-standard compact format, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. The 100 mm stroke on this model was a made-to-order option beyond the 75 mm standard maximum for a 16 mm bore, so specify it again on the ACEJ order.
