The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-10B is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-10B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke by up to 10 mm on site, giving a usable range of 90-100 mm. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 16, so it is a non-standard, made-to-order build. Note this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is ACEJ16X100.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped jig plates and guarding where a full-length body cannot. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends, and the male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle brackets. For sizing, treat roughly 60 N as the practical working force at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 6 kg vertically - halve that for a 2:1 margin on real part weights.

Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 90-100 mm adjustable window lets a machinist trim the clamp stroke to the part without shimming, and the compact body fits fixture plates too shallow for an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.
With 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa the bore ejects lightweight cartons or blisters from a chute, and the 30-500 mm/s speed range matches fast index cycles.
The rod lifts about 6 kg vertically at 0.5 MPa, enough for raising sample trays or probe heads in laboratory automation where space above the rig is limited.
Size between bores: the 12 mm bore gives 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N - pick the 16 mm when your load sits between those. The adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only; it does not lock the piston, so on air loss the rod still drifts and a separate holding method is needed. Mounting uses the FA/FB flange or LB foot on the ISO 21287 face, and the male rod thread accepts I/Y knuckles. If you need position sensing, order the -S variant with the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches - this B-code model has no magnet. For new projects, specify the ACEJ16X100 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 100.5 N and pulls 75.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 140.7 N and pull 105.6 N; theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the 100 mm extend stroke can be trimmed to anywhere between 90 and 100 mm with the stop screw. It runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um at 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The 100 mm stroke is a made-to-order length above the 75 mm standard maximum for bore 16.
Sensing requires the optional -S magnet code; this model (no S) has no magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches cannot be mounted on it. The ACPJ family is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ACEJ16X100, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Because the ACP is DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. FA/FB flange and LB foot mounts bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread takes I/Y knuckles.
