This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACEJ16X100-10SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACEJ16X100-10SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPJ Adjustable Compact Cylinder ACPJ16X100-10SB is a double acting, adjustable stroke DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø16mm bore and 100mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100-10SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACPJ16X100-10SB is a double acting compact cylinder with an adjustable extend stroke: a stop screw trims the 100 mm stroke by up to 10 mm, giving a usable range of 90-100 mm on site. At 0.5 MPa the 16 mm bore delivers 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull, rising to 140.7 N push at 0.7 MPa. The 100 mm stroke exceeds the 75 mm maximum standard stroke for bore 16, so this unit is made to order. Note: this model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACEJ16X100, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class.
The hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the mounting length about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and gantry frames. Because roughly 60% of the 100.5 N push is realistic working force, plan on about 60 N of real work, which lifts about 3 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The -S code on this model carries the magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, the rod end is male thread (B), and a fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends. Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping to the ACEJ.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACEJ16X100-10SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 101 N | 75 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 141 N | 106 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 21 kgf | |
The ACEJ16X100-10SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACPJ | DIN compact cylinder (adjustable-stroke, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 16 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×100 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -10 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 90-100 mm adjustable stroke and 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa eject finished clips or bushings from a mold nest, with the stop screw trimming throw to match cavity depth.
About 3 kg of vertical working force with a 2:1 margin suits pressing caps onto sample vials or microtiter plates in a compact benchtop fixture.
The short body fits under low conveyor frames, and the fitted -S magnet with a CMSE switch confirms gate position back to the PLC at each divert.
Size check: if 100.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is marginal for your load, step up to bore 20 for 157.1 N; if the load is light, bore 12 gives 56.5 N at lower air use. The 10 mm adjuster is a mechanical end stop for the extend stroke only - it does not hold a load if air is lost. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the ISO 21287 face, and the male rod thread (B) suits I/Y knuckles. Order the ACEJ16X100 as the current drop-in replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa: 100.5 N push and 75.4 N pull. At 0.7 MPa: 140.7 N push and 105.6 N pull. Theoretical maximum is 20.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. The -10 code gives a 10 mm adjustment window, so the stop screw trims the 100 mm extend stroke down to 90 mm. The 100 mm stroke is non-standard for bore 16 (75 mm max standard) and is made to order. This model is discontinued; the ACEJ16X100 is the current replacement.
It is a short-body ISO 21287 class compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, M5x0.8 ports and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. Mounting length is about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. This -S version carries the optional magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-position sensing. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-500 mm/s.
